HOW TO REACH SIENA |
Siena is easy to reach from the airports
of Pisa, Rome and Bologna and from the city of Florence. There are good
bus (Florence and Rome) and train (Pisa and Bologna) services from these
cities. The city can also be easily reached by car. For train times

HOW TO GET TO SIENA FROM FIRENZE |
BY CAR
Coming from the north on the motorway / freeway (Autostrada del Sole -
the A1), leave at Firenze Certosa. Immediately after the tollgate take the
Superstrada Firenze-Siena (4 lanes) for 60 kilometres.

HOW TO GET TO SIENA FROM PISA |
BY CAR
From the airport take the main road towards Florence. When you
get near Florence (Firenze) you should follow signs for Rome / the A1
motorway towards south (try to avoid the centre of Florence!). This takes
you around Florence until you get to the exit Firenze Certosa. Leave the
motorway here and take the dual carriageway to Siena.
BY TRAIN
There are 2 hours trains from Pisa to Siena but you have to change at
the station of Empoli (there are no direct trains). It is approximately an
hourly service. Reservations are not strictly necessary. You can find the

HOW TO GET TO SIENA FROM ROMA |
BY CAR
From the south take the motorway / freeway (Autostrada del Sole - the
A1) and leave at Val di Chiana. Follow signs for Siena (2 lane road) for
50 Km.
The historical centre of Siena is closed to traffic. There is a large
car park at the Stadium (follow directions for the Stadio, San Domenico),
which is very near to the school.
From Rome airport there are shuttle trains to the centre approx. every
15 minutes. From the centre you can catch a bus or train to Siena:
If you wish to take a bus to Siena, take a shuttle train to Roma
TIBURTINA. If you wish to take a train, take a shuttle train to Roma
TERMINI.

There are train from Roma to Siena
but you have to change at the station of Chiusi
(there are no direct trains).You

HOW TO REACH THE CERTOSA OF PONTIGNANO
BY CAR
From the North

Coming from the Florence/Siena connecting road, exit Siena Nord. At
the first STOP turn left, towards CASTELLINA IN CHIANTI-GREVE IN
CHIANTI (SS 222),

After about 1.5 km, you find a crossing on the road and turn towards
VAGLIAGLI-CORSIGNANO-PIEVASCIATA (SP 102) and PONTIGNANO (in brown), |

Drive on for further 2.5 km. On the left you will find the VALIANO
farm, after going beyond it for about 1.5 km, on the right a crossing
to PONTIGNANO 1-PONTE A BOZZONE-SS 406.
Drive on for about 2 km more and you will reach the Certosa of
Pontignano. |

From the South |
Coming from the Bettole/Siena connecting road, exit Siena Est (actually
the continuation of the connecting road). Follow the signs CENTRO -
STAZIONE FF.SS. Along the road you will come across some roundabouts.
At the third roundabout, there is a sign for CERTOSA DI PONTIGNANO.
Continue along the state road 408 for about 7/8 km until you get to
PONTE A BOZZONE. Turn left there towards CERTOSA DI PONTIGNANO. Drive
on for 2 km until you reach the Certosa of Pontignano.

BUS AND BY TAXI
The schedule of the bus

The bus number is 034 P.GRAMSCI-P.A BOZZONE-PONTIGNANO-VAGLIAGLI but
its frequency is low (4-5 times a day - see timetable
). The best option is to take a
taxi to the Certosa di Pontignano (approximately, 15-20 euros).
